Toshiba, the authorized licensor for DVD6C, wins arbitration award to collect royalties due from DVD6C patent licensee

February 17, 2012 --- The DVD6C Licensing Group (“DVD6C”) -- consisting of nine leading developers of DVD technology -- today announced that their authorized licensor, Toshiba Corporation, won an arbitration to collect royalties due from ChangZhou Xingqiu Electric Co., Ltd., a Chinese manufacturer of consumer DVD players, under the DVD6C patent license. The arbitral tribunal awarded Toshiba unpaid royalties and interest totaling over $4.4 million, plus continuing interest at a rate of 2% per month until the award is paid in full. The unpaid royalties awarded consisted of reported, unreported and underreported royalties due. This arbitration is part of a continuing global initiative by the DVD6C Licensing Group to collect unpaid royalties due under the DVD6C patent license.
