DVD6C has terminated DVD6C License Agreements with Chinese Licensees GVG and Norcent

January 12, 2005 --- The DVD6C Licensing Group (DVD6C) consisting of seven leading developers of DVD technology and formats—Hitachi, Ltd., IBM Corporation, Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd., Mitsubishi Electric Corporation, Time Warner Inc., Toshiba Corporation, and Victor Company of Japan, Ltd. (JVC) —today announced that it has terminated the DVD6C Patent License Agreements with two Chinese companies effective as of January 12, 2005.

The two Chinese companies, GVG (Dongguan GVG Digital Technology Ltd.) and Norcent (Shanghai Hongsheng Technology Co., Ltd.), failed to fulfill their material obligations of royalty reporting and/or royalty payment under the DVD6C Patent Licensing Agreement.

It is therefore cautioned that the sale, offering for sale, use, importation or other disposal of DVD products of these two companies may constitute infringement of patent rights in countries where essential patents of DVD6C members have been issued or registered.
